Bio
I am an Assistant Professor and Research Scientist at the Institute of Human Origins at Arizona State University. With a commitment to advancing our understanding of the complex interplay between humans, technology, and the environment, my research spans a broad spectrum of topics.
My extensive fieldwork since 2008 reflects my dedication to community-based research. My primary focus involves stewarding the deep history of human evolution through collaborative paleoanthropology. I maintain long-term connections at field sites in Tanzania and Kenya fostering partnerships in heritage management, conservation, and community archaeology.
I am also interested in the relationship of human cultural transmission and technology throughout the later Quaternary. I direct the Ancient Technology Lab, Deep History Lab, and Archaeological Science Lab at ASU to provide insights into human behavior, social organization, tool use, and technological innovation.
